How to Organise a Hollywood Themed Party

How to Organise a Hollywood Themed Party

You only hold one job: to make your honored guest feel like a celebrity. When you adopt the Old Hollywood style, you won’t have to compete with John Barrymore or Katharine Hepburn!

Talented producers, directors, and stars collaborate in Hollywood’s sprawling, high-end movie studios to produce some of the world’s highest-grossing blockbuster films. But Lalaland wasn’t always the place where scandal and the paparazzi lived. The city was associated with class, glitz, and a hint of the finer things in life during the golden age of Hollywood.

Consider hosting a party with a Hollywood theme if you want to celebrate the glitz and glamour of the past with the energy of celebrity culture! At an Old Hollywood gala held in their honor, movie buffs will adore receiving celebrity treatment!

How to turn any event space into a star-studded celebration of elegance and charm, and we’d love to assist you in making your Hollywood dreams come true! Continue reading to learn about our favorite Hollywood-themed party ideas and host a party inspired by the golden age for any formal occasion.

Classic Decor’s Iconic Images When you think of Hollywood, whether it’s old or new, a few distinct images come to mind. There are a plethora of signs and symbols in gilded Los Angeles that pique the imagination, from the traditions to the scenery.

By incorporating this iconography into your décor, you can evoke the star-studded world of the world’s first movie stars and provide guests with charming photo opportunities.

A Traditional Red Carpet

What could be more Hollywood than showing up to a step-and-repeat right away? The well-known red carpet in Hollywood is the most well-known symbol. Movie stars walk in front of a backdrop filled with sponsors, where paparazzi ask for interviews and take pictures of them.

You are able to create a step-and-repeat backdrop with fake sponsors that are representative of your guest of honor, but you are unable to arrange for a crowd of star-struck fans. Hire a photographer to record everyone’s first steps on the red carpet. You can even persuade each guest to sign an “autograph book,” which will serve as a fun present for the guest of honor following the event.

Hang gorgeous draped fabric instead of the fake sponsors for a Hollywood glamour theme. Guests will still feel like celebrities, but they won’t look like a modern commercial. You could even photograph them in sepia or black and white for a vintage look!

Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is an institution at Lalaland! The sidewalks on Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street are a little different from one another. They have stars made of gold and coral, each labeled with the name of a famous person and an icon of that person’s contribution to popular culture.

Your event can include Hollywood stars on everything from the table numbers to the decorations. You could even give your guest of honor a mock induction ceremony!

The Music of the Stars There are two traditional approaches to investigating the theme of a Hollywood party. You could have a modern take on the culture of big-screen movies and paparazzi or a more subdued Old Hollywood theme party. When you hire a function band based in London to set the mood, you can say what you want to say right away!

The Sound of Old Hollywood

The dusty American West Coast was transformed into a world of art, glitz, magic, and excess when the first movie studio opened in Hollywood in 1911. The years between 1930 and 1960 are referred to as “Old Hollywood.” During that time, musicals with pre-recorded soundtracks and films with sound, including synchronized dialogue, were just beginning.

As a result, we have the means to hear the distinctive sounds of this dynamic time. Nevertheless, parties and other events continued to feature live music. The hiring of musicians became a way for stars, producers, directors, and others to show off their wealth as the film industry became a lucrative venture!

By selecting a small ensemble or a soloist to perform at your event, you could evoke Old Hollywood. Perhaps they could be accompanied on the red carpet by a string quartet? They can play music from the era to help your guests get a sense of the past.

If you’re planning a cocktail hour, keep using sound to create atmosphere. While your guests sip on classic cocktails, a solo harpist will exude class and make them feel like stars.

You’ll also need to provide a larger ensemble to encourage dancing throughout the night for a true Hollywood blowout! A night of big band music would have been appreciated by true Hollywood elites. You can copy the sound by getting a swing band to play a blend of exemplary and contemporary hits to keep visitors on their feet!

The Games of Mexico: Festive Party Activities

The Games of Mexico: Festive Party Activities

You are likely to recognize some of the most popular games played at Mexican fiestas! Even though some of these games are usually for kids, you can make them more appealing to adults by adding a lot of fun twists. Throughout the event, each activity is a wonderful way to keep your guests engaged and entertained!

Hang a Piata

Piata is one of the most common party games in Mexico. The piata is a colorful papier-mâché container adorned with vibrant tissue paper fringe. The piata has a hollow center so you can give your guests a variety of treats and other small gifts!

Put a guest in a blindfold and spin them around to disorient them for the game. Then, give them a stick and let them hit the piata three times. Breaking it open will cause the treats to fall to the ground, which is the objective!

Especially if your guests have been drinking Corona beers, breaking the piata usually takes longer than you might think! A well-constructed piata can be tough and difficult to open! However, when the prizes inside begin to fall, guests rush to grab their prizes!

In Mexico, piatas are frequently stuffed with candy and sweet tropical fruits. Feel free to stuff your piata with whatever you want at your party! To increase the level of competition, you might include some more desirable prizes!

Your piata’s contents might even be the most important party favors for the evening. To make it easier for guests to pick up and transport their belongings, you might want to think about giving out colorful bags or containers.

Play Lotera, a colorful game of chance that is sometimes referred to as “Mexican Bingo

Each card is a stunning work of art based on Mexican culture, not a grid of letters and numbers. Lotera cards are frequently created and sold by artists in a variety of color schemes, themes, and motifs; therefore, choose the game that best complements your style!

Each board is a four-by-four matrix with images arranged at random. Instead of a “caller,” there is a “cantor” in lotera. This individual selects a card from a deck and reveals the image they have chosen.

A player can mark off the image on their card if they have it. Dried beans are traditionally used by Mexican players to mark their cards. Once a player has marked four images in a row, the cantor will continue to choose cards and read clues.

Rather than yelling “Bingo!” You guessed it, “Lotera!” they yell. The player will be awarded a prize if they have correctly covered the images. You can make the stakes higher by giving away expensive or desirable prizes, or you can keep it light by giving out silly gifts!

Try a Limbo Challenge

Playing musical limbo is a fantastic, thematic way to involve your Mariachi band! Numerous hilarious photos result from this physical challenge!

Two invited guests can hold either end of a long, decorative stick or pole while your Mariachi band plays. To begin, they should hold it up high enough for guests to easily pass underneath it. But there’s a catch! Your players will line up and dance beneath the stick as the Apollo Music plays.

Lower the stick after each lap to make it harder to walk underneath. To pass underneath without touching the floor, guests will need to bend, squat, and shimmy. Guests who fall are deemed “out.”

Keep playing until the final guest is no longer able to dance low enough! A prize may be awarded to the last man standing for their remarkable adaptability and inventiveness!
